The High Line

I read about The High Line in this morning’s London Times.  New York has a new park, a really frickin cool one at that (of course).  Running the length of Manhattan from Gansevoort Street through the Meatpacking District, up through Chelsea to 34th Street.

Its 1 and a half miles long and only 60ft at its widest point, oh, and its elevated above the streets.  That’s because the park has been built on a section of the former elevated freight railroad of the West Side Line.

In London and New York – cities that are increasingly cramped its an ingenious use of space, and hopefully something we’ll see more of.
